Special X is the brand new full-length album from British producer 1i2c.
Following in the footsteps of his previous albums, Special X is an instrumental offering that packs a sonic punch. All tracks have a strong driving force from rhythmic synths that power the listener on throughout. This album changes in style significantly between the tracks, often having a strong, dark Electronica feel but also sometimes drifting towards a more Dance sound and even a touch of Electro-pop.
Special X weaves and turns throughout its journey and never feels like it repeats itself, certainly giving an air of exhilaration to the listener.
1i2c, from close to London, always composes to a theme. These have been evident in his previous offerings of Horror Show, Winter and Time; to name but three fantastic past albums. With this new album however, 1i2c takes the idea of a theme as the glue that holds the album together to new heights.
Each track of Special X is inspired by a title of a collection of books by Canadian author Michael Slade. 1i2c has a strong love and personal connection to these novels as an avid reader. Although not necessarily based on the twists and turns of the various plots within this series of books (how does one reduce a 500 page book into a 7 minute composition?), Special X is inspired by them.
